Mangroves are trees adapted to grow in salt water. There a five along shallow coastal regions in the tropical and subtropical regions. These areas are tough places for plants to grow. During low tides they are exposed to air. During high tides their roots are covered by salt water. Mangrove leaves are adapted to expell salt from their leaves.
