Monkeys are small mammals known as primates, a group that also includes humans, apes, lemurs and lorises. They are very intelligent, curious, very vocal and have forward-facing eyes. They have agile feet and hands that allow them to grasp objects such as tree branches and food. Most of the 264 species of monkeys live in tropical regions in the Americas, Africa, and Asia and spend much of their lives in trees.
