Snow forms when water in the atmosphere freezes and forms crystals that fall to the ground. Snow falls vary from a light dusting to a dumping of a meter or more. Pretty, flaky, and fun, snow is important to climate. Many animals and people depend on snow building up in colder months, often in mountainous regions, and melting to supply water in hotter months.
